Castaic, CA – Pedestrian Killed in Collision on I-5 near Lake Hughes Rd
Castaic, CA (May 11, 2022) – A 30-year-old pedestrian lost their life on Tuesday, May 10 in an accident in Castaic. She was struck by a big rig when she tried to cross Interstate 5, sources said.
At approximately 2:15 a.m., authorities were notified of the collision that happened in the northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway near Lake Hughes Road. A white international Navistar was headed north on I-5 Golden State Freeway at approximately 55 miles per hour when a female pedestrian attempted to cross the roadway. She was struck by the vehicle and killed on impact.
The female victim was pronounced dead at around 2:33 a.m., officials said. The number 4 lane was closed for almost four hours while police investigated the details of the wreck.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident. It remains unclear what caused the wreck to occur. The identity of the victim has not been released at this time.
