Attorney Jennie Levin Represents Driver Hurt in LAPD-Suspect Crash
A driver of a civilian truck was traveling along Vernon or Vermont Avenue in Los Angeles on the night of October 18th, 2017 when a criminal suspect raced through the intersection of the two streets. Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) squad cars were in hot pursuit of the criminal. At this time, it is believed that the criminal hit the truck driver, who lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a fire hydrant. He suffered serious injuries and needed to be taken to a nearby emergency room for medical attention.
Witnesses have said that the criminal being pursued by police most likely caused the accident. This still must be determined through investigations. A spokesperson for the LAPD acknowledged that a pursuit was in effect in the region but did not confirm if it was related to the accident. It should be noted that police officers and law enforcement agents have legal immunity from liability and lawsuits related to accidents they directly cause while in pursuit of a criminal suspect. Even if a squad car struck the truck driver, the liability would be placed on the criminal suspect, who is accountable for any and all dangers caused by their decision to illegally flee the police.
The Law Offices of Jennie Levin, P.C. has been retained by the injured truck driver. The law firm is currently investigating his losses and determining the extent of the damages. The police are not actively releasing information about the chase and the crash.
